Speculating on Persona 5

The developers over at Atlus are awesome. The games I've played that are made by them never fail to amaze me. With E3 around the corner and Atlus being there, I'm in the mood to try and predict what Persona 5 might be like!

What do we know about Persona 5 at this point? A few things have been revealed about the development. The quote ‘You are a slave. Want emancipation?’,  that the setting takes place in another high school environment are two main plot points and that the main theme is about freedom and liberation from rules that holds people down. Another thing that was briefly talked about was the music composer for the game is Shoji Meguro,  the same person who worked on the previous Shin Megami Tensei games and previous Persona games as well. Also the game is exclusively for the PS3, and will be supported by a new game engine.

Since Persona Q is out then it's safe to assume that there's not going to be another dungeon/labyrinth crawler like how Tartarus was in Persona 3. Persona 4 adopted the separate-dungeon method that helped with the storyline and character development and I imagine that Persona 5 will take a similar route. Judging what we've seen so far, just the chairs and ball and chain, I’m predicting that this may be a darker storyline...well...darker in comparison to Persona 3. Persona 4, in my opinion, was a more light hearted storyline due to there being more bright colors than its predecessors. With direct command of party members being implemented in Persona 4, we can assume that Persona 5 will be seeing it as well. The core mechanics should still be there, and hopefully they’ll give us a multitude of personas to choose from.

Overall I expect another hit, that hits my feels like the previous games. I’m hyped for its release next year.
